POOL ETIQUETTE
Our waterpolo pool is booked and paid for, to cater for your competition - it is not booked for use outside those hours! Please do not attempt to utilise the waterpolo pool outside those hours or the other pool at all. Complaints have been made about people swimming and throwing balls about the pools prior to starting times interfering with the swimming public, who have also paid for their use of the pool/s.
Please do not bounce or kick waterpolo balls on the concrete floors or walls, the balls are expensive, and easily ruined - they are not basketballs! Coaches should inform their players of this please! These balls will quickly lose their grip if abused in this manner... (Not to mention that damage can be done to pool fittings etc., if balls are bounced off walls)
Please be seated while any game is in progress, have respect for those playing/watching the game at the time! Your turn will come soon! Keep well away from the sides of the pool, to allow the officials to facilitate the game.
Players/spectators may not communicate with game officials during games, coaches only may communicate with referees, 30mins after games have been played.
AND ANOTHER THING...! PUSHING IN....
It might seem cute, and at times even funny, but it is extremely dangerous to push others into the pool! Please make sure you are not one of those who do that... (Those pushed in could hurt them selves on the way down, or fall on somebody who is already in the water!)
FINGERNAILS AND TOE NAILS!
All players are asked to ensure their nails are cut to suitable length, to avoid causinginjury to each other, before the start of each game. "Long" is more than 1mm of white at the end of the nail.
(When nails are inspected by referees, and a player is told they need to cut their nails, this usually causes panic as nail clippers are searched for or teeth are employed in a mad scramble to avoid being excluded from the game.)
If nails are the correct length before the game then this eliminates the need to have accusations and counter accusations filed with the referees. Team managers/coaches/players should ensure they have a pair of nail cutters handy, in case one of their players forgets to trim their nails!
You are also reminded that no articles are to be worn during any game, by players, that could injure themselves or any other players eg. watches, ear rings, studs - jewellery etc. of any kind.
However, mouthguards are a good idea and recommended when fitted by a professional...
